About Brookfield Place Sydney

Brookfield Place Sydney

On 1 June 2016, Brookfield Property Partners L.P., on behalf of its institutional partners, received NSW Cabinet approval for the development – then known as Wynyard Place - in the heart of Sydney’s CBD at 10 Carrington Street. On 15th October 2016, Multiplex was awarded the construction contract to build the project.

This city-changing development by Brookfield Properties is today transforming one of Sydney’s busiest rail precincts into a thriving, mixed-use community and - commensurate with its status as a best-in-class CBD precinct - was renamed Brookfield Place Sydney in August 2020.

Brookfield Place is an iconic brandmark awarded by Brookfield to the very best of its assets globally, with sister locations in Toronto, New York, Perth, Dubai and Calgary. These assets distinguish themselves by providing world-class amenity, unparalleled access to transport, leading sustainability credentials, and day & night amenity. They are activated year-round through Brookfield Properties’ commitment to placemaking through a wide variety of cultural and artistic programs, and community events.

The Sydney site consolidates four properties immediately adjacent to Wynyard Station into one centre.

The project is breathing new life into historic Shell House and 285 George Street, with their facades being protected and restored.

The project’s centrepiece is a 27-level premium grade commercial tower with a total net lettable area of approximately ~59,000 sqm, ~7,000 sqm of high end retail space and basement parking. It will offer world-class facilities, amenities and finishes, setting a new standard for commercial building and workplace and leisure area design.

Brookfield Place Sydney will upgrade facilities for Sydney’s rail and bus customers who transit through Wynyard Station. The project will deliver grand station entrances on Carrington and George streets and a new spacious, light filled transit hall that will transform Wynyard Station into a Sydney CBD signature precinct.

Brookfield Place Sydney will provide a significant improvement to the overall customer experience at Wynyard for commuters, workers and city visitors. The development has been designed to integrate with other projects such as Sydney’s $2.2 billion light rail project and will deliver direct access to the new Barangaroo pedestrian connection, Wynyard Walk.

Over 3,000 jobs will be created during the construction lifecycle.

Key outcomes of the project will be enhanced connectivity between the Wynyard Station precinct and other precincts, such as Barangaroo.

Brookfield Place Sydney was designed by leading international architectural firm Make Architects in collaboration with Sydney based company, Architectus.

Sustainability was a design goal and the development has succeeded in achieving a 6 Star Green Star – Office Design v3 rating and is targeting a 5.5 Star NABERS Energy rating.
